Texas Nutz Band is a 3 man variety/party band with a "big" band sound. This comes from the fact that all 3 guys sing lead and harmony, and all the different instruments and styles they all play. Texas Nutz Band has been playing all over the South (and Southeast) Texas area for 5 years now, at both Country and Rock venues, and has gotten a following and e-mail list from these experiences. They have over 90 combined years of onstage experience, so here's some bio info for you...
Charlie Malone-Drums: Over the years, Charlie has both started and played with many local bands, not only making a splash with his playing and singing, but also with his business (and schmoozing) abilities. This fun guy played with Ron Boucher and the Southern Shine Band for fifteen years, and opened for such bands as Dwight Yoakam, Alan Jackson, etc. He then started the band "Soundbound," where he first met Dave Farr on bass, and went on the form Texas Nutz Band from there.
Dave Farr-Bass & Guitar: Involved with all forms of music since 1959, Dave comes from New York, and played up and down the East Coast Circuit, and all over Canada. Tallest of the Nutz, people say Dave bears an uncanny resemblance to David Crosby. Dave's size lets him overpoer his 5 string bass, for super solid bottom end. Dave has opened for such bands as Badfinger, Looking Glass, and many more. Dave also has toured wih the Hager Twins of Hee-Haw fame. Dave lists his influences as Leland Sklar, Paul McCartney, James Jamerson, and Donald "Duck" Dunn.
Craig Markle-Lead Guitar, Slide, & Keyboard: Craig has been playing guitar since he was 12, although he never liked the title "child prodigy." Growing up in Michigan, his influences included Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and "The Motor City Madman," Ted Nugent. This pushed his abilities and understanding of the fretboard immensely. He played for years with the Michigan band "Ketch" which opened for Kiss, REO Speedwagon, ZZ Top, etc. at Michigan State University. he joined up with Gary Lewis and the Playboys on the reunion tour as Lead Guitarist and Music Director. He then took time off working, to reflect and work in the ministry with music. He went back to work, and then hooked up with Charlie and Dave in 2004.
