XL was born Xavier Lamar Truesdell October 30, 1985. He was raised on the south side of Chicago by single parents. Xavier started dancing at the age of 1 year old and has developed a musical style which includes RnB/Pop/House. Xavier is also a professional model and has been featured in campaigns such as Nike, Toyota and Pepsi.
