Andrew began his roots in music when he was just eight years old when he started taking taking voice lessons. His first teacher Lori Rocklin (former vaudeville performer) started Andrew with songs by Frank Sinatra and other famous crooners. In elementry school, Andrew was also part of a group known as Eaglesong led by Chicago native and composer Gary Fry. The singing group were asked to play at such places as The White House, U.N, The nations Capitol building, and singing the National Anthem for the Indianapolis Colts. In High School Andrew performed in the New Trier High School's Swing Choir, Concert Choir, Men's Choir, and Choir Opera. His freshman year he landed the leads in Bye Bye Birdie as Conrad Birdie. As a Sophmore he was the lead "Jonnie the Zombie" in the play called "Zombie Prom". As a Junior the school did a production of "Les Miserables" and he landed a co-lead role as Marius. After Andrew's High School production Andrew was asked to audtion for a Loyola University Summer Program production, and he landed the co-lead role as "Javert". As a senior Andrew landed the supporting role as "Mr. McLaren" in his final High School prudction of Brigadoon. Andrew as a Senior also co-directed the schools production of "Greese". One of the biggest influences in Andrew's vocal education is Dan Kane. Andrew started out playing bar gigs around the northern suburbs of Chicago. In the summer of 2003 he worked with producer Kevon Smith of Island Records, recording a four song pro-demo with his former band "Nine Ways Out" from high school. "Nine Ways Out" also released 3 self produced full length albums in just a matter of 2 years! Andrew in college was asked to open up for Chicago grammy nominated folk singer Matthew Santos weekley for an open mic he ran. Once Santos discontinued running the open mic, Evan Hand (Waterstreet) asked Andrew to help fill in Santos shoes where he left off. While Andrew was a Freshman at Columbia College, Andrew joined a hard rock band called “Slingshot”. “Slingshot” soon disbanded due to differences between the band’s founders. Andrew and Chris Sutor (lead guitar for Slingshot) remained a tight unit and with mutual enthusiasm and planning formed “The Black Jack Kings". In 2005/06, Andrew played along with the Columbia Blues Ensemble led by his teacher Fernando Jones. The band played at such venues as The Blues Heaven Foundation, Blues Fest, and Navy Pier. . Individualy he has played venues stretching out as far as Virginia, Jamacia, Pennsylvania, Milwaukee, Indiana, New York, and many other cities in the United States. Andrew in the Summer of 07', competed in Bar 1’s Big Break singing competition, which started with 550 singers. Andrew finished in 12th place. That next year Andrew returned and finished 14th out of 650! This would rank him as one of the top 15 best singers in Chicago 2 years in a row. Andrew finished an independent album with producer Maxwell Smith, titled “ Expect the Unexpected”. He has also started a side project called “To Be Continues”. The project kicked off with a demo recording, produced by Derrick Fawcett: percussionist, vocalist, and co-songwriter for the band “Down the Line”. Andrew joined the band Fatt Finger in 2008 and recorded the single "Jack the Dog". "Jack the Dog" was featured on Windy City Records Radio One 2008 Summer Complilation. In Winter of 2008, Andrew was picked by the Columbia Music Department to perform in a Singer's Showcase which consisted of the top 30 singers at Columbia College. Today "The Blackjack Kings" have finished a self produced full length debut ablum entitled "Altered State of Mind" due to release February 1st 2009. He worked with producer Aidas Narbatitais and Ralph Covart at Waterdog Studios as well as engineer Doug McBride at Gravity Studios for "Altered State of Mind". “I will continue to play music until the day I die. It is my passion, it is my love, and it is my life”.
